Fans say Gordon Ramsay's show Bank Balance is more confusing than Bamboozled on Friends

Friends fans have made a hilarious link between Gordon Ramsay's new BBC show Bank Balance and a confusing game show Joey auditioned in the sitcom.

The 54-year-old TV chef took a step away from the kitchen to host the game show, which debuted on BBC One last night, to act as a coach to help contestants as they try to win £100,000.

It sees pairs of contestants answering questions from various categories in order to place different sizes of gold bars on a Balance Board.

The more bars they gain, the more cash they can win - but it's not that simple as the more contestants pile on, the higher the chance the tower of bars could come crashing down.

A number of people complained about the show (BBC)

But confused viewers likened it to Bamboozled on Friends - which featured in season eight, episode 20, where Matt LeBlanc’s Joey enlists the help of Chandler (Matthew Perry) and Ross (David Schwimmer) to act as contestants on the game show he was preparing to audition for.

On Twitter, viewers joked about the comparison, with one even saying "Bamboozled would be easier to follow than this Bank Balance show."

Another said: "This reminds me of that quiz Joey auditioned for #BankBalance ".

A third said: "Gordon running through how the game #GordonRamsaysBankBalance works made me think of Joey and Bamboozled in @FriendsTV Far too confusing #BankBalance."

"Did the guys behind #BankBalance get their inspiration from that episode of Friends where Joey hosts Bamboozled?!" wrote another.

And a fifth confused viewer added: "Just turned on Bank Balance and I don’t have a single clue what is going on.

"Some sort of weird balancing thing with gold and silver bars on. Now there’s a red one and a penalty thing. Anyone remember Bamboozled in Friends? This is where I am right now!"
