Friends and family to 'look after' Ashling Murphy's boyfriend of six years after tragedy

The friends and family of Ashling Murphy's boyfriend Ryan are rallying around the young man after this week's tragedy.

Ashling and Ryan Casey have been together for six years before the horror events that unfolded on Wednesday afternoon.

People have been sending their love and support to Ashling's partner since the news broke.

His local GAA club Clodiagh Gaels said Ryan is "one of our own" and they will "look after him".

Local man Peter O'Neill also offered his respects on social media, he said: "Spare a thought for Ashling’s partner. By all accounts, they had been together for 6 years. A lifetime for many. I can’t imagine the heartache he is feeling right now."

Ashling's friend of 20 years Grace Corrigan also sent her support to Ryan on Friday, speaking at a vigil she said: “On behalf of every musician here tonight, every musician all over the country, our deepest, deepest condolences go out to Ray, to Kathleen, her brother Cathal, her best friend Amy and above all, her boyfriend Ryan Casey.

“My heart is just broken for them all."

Ashling Murphy's funeral mass will take place on Tuesday in her home town of Tullamore.

The 23-year-old, who was brutally murdered earlier this week, will be laid to rest surrounded by her closest family and friends.

She will repose in her family home today, Sunday, from 3pm until 8pm and the same times again on Monday.

A rosary will take place both nights at 8pm.

Removal will then take place on Tuesday morning, arriving at St Brigid's Church, Mountbolus for mass at 11am with burial afterwards.

The family have requested family flowers only and that the house be strictly private on Tuesday.

Government guidelines on social distancing are also to be adhered to by those attending the house or the church.

You can also tune into the mass via webcam with all details on RIP.ie.
