Friends Alan Cumming and Nicola Sturgeon send fans crazy as they pose for photos

Nicola Sturgeon has formed an unlikely collaboration with actor Alan Cumming, as fans go wild after they pose for a selfie together.

Scotland's First Minister met with Cumming at Edinburgh's Usher Hall to chat about his new memoir 'Baggage'.

Sturgeon hosted the event, with herself and Cumming posing for the cameras afterwards. The pair have reportedly been friends for a long time, reports the Daily Record.

Cumming, who is also famous for his singing, writing and activist skills, was born in Perthshire and has made a name for himself in the acting business, appearing in the Spy Kids trilogy, GoldenEye and Son of the Mask.

Alan kept his special guest a secret until the show had started, with members of the crowd being surprised to see the First Minister's appearance.

Taking to Social media, Alan wrote: "Look who interviewed me about my book at the @Usherhall tonight!! Only the gorgeous and amazing First blooming Minister of Scotland @nicolasturgeon!!"

Sturgeon also took to Instagram to voice her excitement for being included in Alan's show. She wrote: "Something a bit different but very special tonight - interviewing my friend and all around superstar @alancummingsnaps at the Usher Hall about his life, career and recently published memoir 'Baggage'. This is us having a wee catch up backstage".

Fans were loving the duo posing together.

One wrote: "Two of the best people Scotland has produced."

Another added: "Two legends."

While one wrote: "This was wonderful, I was starstruck, Great wee night."

Another added: "You were a fabulous surprise" What a great night!"

Alan had previously written about the violence he experienced from his father as a child in his 2014 book Not My Father's Son.

His new book 'Baggage: Tales From a Fully Packed Life' reveals the secrets of his life in showbiz industry and the decisions he made based on his experiences.

He said: "it's still with me, I still get triggered by things. And we all have baggage, we all have trauma.

"It's like a Jenga piece. You can't pretend it's not there otherwise everything will fall down."
