Friend of missing aristocrat says she warned her about the type of men she “falls in love with”

A friend of an aristocrat missing with her sex offender partner and baby on Friday said she had warned her about the type of men she “falls in love with”.

Constance Marten, 35, disappeared with Mark Gordon, 48, almost two weeks ago and is believed to be living “off grid” using cash from her trust fund.

Noisette Tahoun said Ms Marten had broken contact with friends and family after she started seeing Gordon, who served a 20-year sentence in the US for kidnap, sexual battery and burglary.

Ms Tahoun, who worked with Ms Marten at a film production company in Egypt, told the Independent: “When she falls in love she goes anywhere with the person she loves... I’ve warned her to take care of the people she gets close to.”

But she added: “When she falls in love she doesn’t listen to anyone.”

Ms Tahoun told the Mirror: “When she got with her recent partner, she started being distant from everyone and not replying to any messages. I spoke to her sister to check if she was OK, but she wasn’t hearing back from her either.”

The couple and newborn baby were last spotted on January 7 at East Ham station in Newham between 11.45am and 12.30pm. Police are concerned that neither Ms Marten nor her child underwent suitable medical tests after the birth.

Detective Superintendent Lewis Basford said: “Please do the right thing for your baby and get in touch with us so that we know you are all doing OK.”

In an appeal yesterday, Ms Marten’s father Napier said: “You are much, much loved whatever the circumstances.”
