Fridays reveals reopening plans - but customers will notice lots of changes at famous diner

Restaurant chain Fridays is set to re-open its doors across the UK - but there will be changes for customers at the famous diner.

Outlets in England will open from Monday, July 6, with a simplified menu at all locations and a new Famous At Friday's brand showcased at six of its key sites before being rolled out nationwide.

Dates for the reopening at venues in Scotland and Wales will be confirmed soon.

The Famous at Fridays restaurants include Covent Garden, Leicester Square, Birmingham Hagley Road (the first Fridays in the UK launched in 1986), Nottingham, Manchester Royal Exchange and Glasgow Buchanan Street.

Fridays, formerly known as TGI Fridays, will be implementing strict safety measures for in-restaurant dining to ensure that teams and guests remain safe.

These include

  • Enhanced frequency surface sanitisation and hand washing.
  • Daily managerial checks to ensure all COVID-19 control measures are in place and being adhered to by all
  • Robust fitness to work checks for the team to protect everyone’s safety.
  • Clear training our processes for all managers and team members
  • Additional hand sanitiser stations installed for use by both team members, guests dining in, guests collecting food and delivery drivers
  • Introduction of a streamlined, limited menu which ensures practising social distancing measures through smaller teams
  • Reduced booking availability to ensure social distancing is in place
  • Continually liaising with primary authority to review and adhere to government guidelines and requirements at all times
  • Clear signposting of COVID-19 control measures throughout stores

Robert B. Cook, Fridays' chief executive, said: “It feels great to be able to welcome our guests back into our restaurants from and be able to give them that memorable Fridays experience.

“Our new Famous at Fridays restaurants take us back to what we are famous for. We have invested in the return of classic dishes made with quality ingredients, re-energised bars full of energy and theatre, all of which will be complemented by consistently brilliant and iconic Fridays service and spirit of generosity.

"We can’t wait to safely welcome our guests back through our doors.”

While restaurants have been closed for in-restaurant dining during lockdown, Fridays favourites including a new range of Cocktails At Home, have been available through its Click & Collect and home delivery services, which will continue when the restaurants re-open.
