Scots cancer teen Lily Douglas laid to rest in emotional 'celebration of life' attended by Arlene Philips and Lewis Capaldi

Thousands of Scots have come together to celebrate the life of brave cancer teen Lily Douglas who was laid to rest this afternoon.

A celebration of the 14-year-old's life took place in an emotional service at St Matthew's Church on Tay Street, Perth, at 2.30pm on Friday, February 11.

Dame Arlene Philips paid tribute with a speech at the funeral and Lily's favourite artist Lewis Capaldi closed things off by singing his number one hit 'Someone You Loved'.

Lily bravely battled Ewing Sarcoma - a rare type of cancer that affects bones or the tissue around bones - since 2017.

Gangster who killed Kenny Reilly 'strangled' behind bars by drug-crazed cellmate

Gangland hitman John Kennedy survived a murder attempt while waiting to go on trial for killing Kenny Reilly.

A cellmate tried to strangle the 41-year-old assassin in a drug -fuelled rage.

The prisoner also attempted to self-harm in the frenzy which happened in Glasgow’s Barlinnie prison.

Mum stuck with solar panels on council house for 25 years wants them gone

A single mother who lives with her disabled daughter is demanding the removal of solar panels from her council house roof.

Brittany Haughton has already gone to the trouble of turning off the panels because ‘they don’t save her any money’.

The 26-year-old, who has autism, moved into the 3-bedroomed council house in December 2020 after being on the waiting list for over two years.

DWP confirms State Pension payments will rise in April - here are the new weekly rates

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed that State Pension payments will increase by 3.1% in line with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from April 11, 2022.

People receiving State Pension can choose to be paid either weekly or every four weeks - not to be confused with being paid monthly as the DWP makes 13, four-weekly payments each year over a 52-week period which can result in two payments being made in the same calendar month.

The Go Easy on Me singer let down her hair at G-A-Y's Porn Idol event at Heaven club following a stripping competition

Adele, whose latest song is suitably titled Drink Wine, looked relaxed on Thursday night as she had fun following three wins at the Brits Awards earlier his week.

She sang along to It's Raining Men and danced away in a white suit after storming the stage at the fun night.
