Unreported World: America’s Cowboy Kids
7.30pm, Channel 4

Rodeo bull-riding is a self-evidently dangerous pastime: there are few instances in which climbing astride half a tonne of twisting, cavorting and enraged steak, bred to encourage strength and belligerence, does not end painfully. As Shaunagh Connaire and Hugo Ward’s startling film demonstrates, however, there are those who believe that bull-riding is a career to be started early; at a rodeo in Texas, they meet budding stars as young as 10 years old. Relatively Clever
8pm, Sky1

Quiz shows provide perhaps the only context on Earth in which a man in a grey suit asking another man in a grey suit a question about the battle of Bosworth has the potential to deliver a cheap thrill. Considering this, the fact that family quiz Relatively Clever is this boring is a testament to how incredibly easy its questions are. There’s no way anyone could get a residual ego-boost from getting these right. And the added fact that Mel Giedroyc has to be the most patronising host in quiz history doesn’t help. Rachel Aroesti

Secrets of Great British Castles
8pm, Channel 5

New series in which Dan Jones rummages around some of Britain’s better-known castles. He begins with Dover Castle, originally envisaged as a bulwark against invaders by Henry II in 1180 but which, as Jones explains, ended up serving in Britain’s defence much longer. Barracks were dug beneath it as Napoleon threatened during the 18th century, naval operations were run from it in the second world war, and during the cold war it was repurposed as a governmental command centre in the event of nuclear attack. Eurovision’s Greatest Hits
9pm, BBC1

Wot no Bucks Fizz? That shameful omission notwithstanding, this Hammersmith show gathers together performers from across the continent and the decades to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest. Quite what the contest stands for nowadays – less an actual competition than a celebration of kitsch? – is not something to be discussed here. Instead recent faves such as Conchita Wurst and Lordi, alongside the Brotherhood Of Man and Dana International, troop out to perform their hits. John Robinson

Springwatch At Easter
9pm, BBC2

It’s a fruitful time of the year for wildlife, so the ‘Watch team present a one-off special showcasing some of the Easter action. The long-running trio of Chris Packham, Michaela Strachan and Martin Hughes-Games are on hand to bring their warmth, infectious enthusiasm and the odd rock’n’roll joke to the subject of nature. Packham and Strachan are crossing their fingers for egg-hatching at one of the UK’s largest seabird colonies, Hughes-Games is in Suffolk, and Simon King visits the Inner Hebrides beauty spot Islay. Hannah Verdier

The Clare Balding Show
10pm, BBC2

The no-frills title of this new series reflects Balding’s safe-pair-of-hands style. In an edited version of last night’s hour-long show on BT Sport 1, she’ll be interviewing in greater depth than usual some of the biggest names in sport, while taking a look at the characters behind the stories of the past week. The opening edition sees her joined by England women’s cricket captain Charlotte Edwards and diver Tom Daley, whose stardom seems out of proportion to his impressive achievements in the pool. David Stubbs

Emma
12.20pm, Drama

A most estimable option for bank holiday binge-watchers, this Jane Austen fest consists of both spritely and saucy visions of the Georgian era. First up is Sandy Welch’s 2009 BBC miniseries Emma, an upbeat affair starring Romola Garai as the eponymous matchmaker, alongside the likes of Jonny Lee Miller and Tamsin Greig. Then it’s on to an altogether more ribald Beeb adaptation: Andrew Davies’s 2008 Sense and Sensibility, in which the Dashwood sisters are catapulted into a new way of life. Hannah Davies
