CBeebies Peter Pan
5pm, CBeebies

Camp as Christmas but not quite as entertaining, it’s the annual CBeebies pantomime. All the bouncy superstars are present and correct, but the “live” panto audience, complete with screaming children, doesn’t do them any favours. Ben Faulks (Mr Bloom) is a passable Peter Pan and Andy Day makes an enthusiastic Captain Hook. What this really needs is a starring role for Justin Fletcher who steals the show, proving once again that he’s so much more than just Mr Tumble. Hannah Verdier

Live Premiership Rugby Union: Sale Sharks v Exeter Chiefs
7pm, BTSport 2

Exeter Chiefs sit third in the table currently, having led it at one stage and are still well in contention for the top spot, an impressive state of affairs given that this is only their third season in the top flight. They’re hosted by Sale Sharks, whose form is a little shakier; they suffered a 15-19 home defeat at the hands of Saracens. While they’ll be marginal underdogs here, they’ll be hoping skipper Magnus Lund can drive them to victory. David Stubbs

Text Santa
8pm, ITV

This celeb-infested telethon – an annual event since 2011 – is ITV’s festive equivalent to Comic Relief. Presenting duos include Ant and Dec, Phillip Schofield and Christine Bleakley, and Paddy McGuinness and Alesha Dixon, while the rest of ITV’s roster of talent will also be called upon for their services. There’ll be special sketches from the casts of Mr Selfridge, Birds Of A Feather, Emmerdale and Coronation Street, with George Clooney’s much-anticipated visit to Downton Abbey also on the menu. Rachel Aroesti

Ice Road Truckers
8pm, Channel 5

Season seven continues in chaotic fashion for the VP Express haulers. “Would anybody normal work for these people?” sighs new recruit Art, as he finds himself stranded in temperatures of minus 40 degrees. While vehicle issues and poor communication cause tensions within the firm, their rivals at Polar continue to attract big-money contracts. Behind the scenes, however, they’re often skating on thin ice: this week sees a dilemma for Darrell, and Lisa struggles to manoeuvre a gargantuan load across a frozen lake. Hannah J Davies

Citizen Khan
8.30pm, BBC1

It’s Christmas Eve, and Mr Khan is embracing the festive season. Sure, his egg nog is minus any trace of nog and the turkey has a distinctly tandoori taste, but his festive fervour has landed Papaji a key role in unveiling Sparkhill’s multi-denominational celebration tree. That is until daughter Shazia, son-in-law Amjad and baby-to-be arrive. Will the prospect of becoming a grandparent convince Mr Khan that family is more important than becoming the community’s social centrepiece? Mark Jones

The Joy Of The Bee Gees
9pm, BBC4

Some surprising people like the Bee Gees – Sex Pistol John Lydon, for one – but none can quite help the band attain gravitas. This doc, with its “never mind the satin suits” narration doesn’t really help their cause either. but was their lot so bad? In the 60s the band became popular with their sub-Walker Brothers/Hollies pop. They split, but reformed to dominate the disco 70s. The handwringing over “credibility” misses the point: the band’s skill as songwriters kept them in the charts, one way or another, for decades. John Robinson

After The Wave
9pm, Discovery

It’s 10 years since the Indian Ocean Boxing Day tsunami swept through several countries, taking with it 230,000 human lives. This feature-length documentary is a look at some of the stories of devastating loss and survival from a decade ago. It also shines a light on the vast international teams that undertook the mammoth task of identifying and cataloguing the bodies of the deceased, before repatriating them to families in more than 30 countries. It’s harrowing viewing, but paints a picture of human resilience and dedication. Bim Adewunmi

Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga: Cheek To Cheek Live!
11.55pm, BBC1

The odd-couple swingers come together for a concert of standards from the great American songbook, filmed at New York’s Rose Theatre. What you think about the results may depend on how far you’re prepared to forgive the inevitable frailties in octogenarian Bennett’s voice and those occasions when the serial-costume-changing Lady projects rather than sings. Yet, there are plenty of good moments here, with Gaga’s take on Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) a particular highlight. Jonathan Wright
