Weekend Escapes With Warwick Davis
8pm, ITV
Warwick Davis was an interesting foil for Ricky Gervais, but seems equally at home in more mainstream fare – even if it means some uncomfortable situations. For the last episode of his travel show, he’s on the Isle of Wight, where Davis continues to prove himself a good sport: whether that means attempting a headstand on a paddleboard or being hoisted up the mast of Shirley Robertson’s yacht. After that, paragliding looks positively straightforward. John Robinson
Marvel’s Agents of Shield
8pm, Channel 4
With Mike “Deathlok” Peterson and Lincoln Campbell captured by Hydra and incarcerated in Dr List’s Arctic lab, Coulson and Robert Gonzales put their differences aside to dispatch a sort of Dirty Half-Dozen to get them back, with the aid of inside-man Bakshi. Godspeed you, Coulson, May, Fitz, Simmons, Ward – and a teleported-in Skye (Chloe Bennet), that sharp-shooting marvel, who proves extremely adept at kicking Hydra tail. All something of a lead-up to Avengers: Age of Ultron, now at your local multiplex. Ali Catterall
Have I Got News for You
9pm, BBC1
It’s taken until series 49 for author and film-maker Jon Ronson to make his debut as a HIGNFY panellist, a belated opportunity for the soft-spoken documentarian to witness the satirical-surreal power struggle between captains Ian Hislop and Paul Merton up close. With any luck, some poor soul will have been recently crucified in the court of public opinion after a social media blunder, allowing Ronson to share some of the wisdom he acquired while researching his latest bestseller, So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed. Graeme Virtue
Eurovision at 60
9pm, BBC4
It’s hard to put your finger on why Eurovision’s cavalcade of dreadfulness exerts such fascination, not least on clever audiences with select musical tastes. It transcends irony or kitsch in its terrible glory. Not that it was always so bad, as this wonderful retrospective reveals. Serge Gainsbourg and Françoise Hardy graced its early years, and in 1974 came Abba, its greatest bequest. Terry Wogan, Cheryl Baker and Graham Norton help to celebrate all this and myriad lesser moments over the decades. David Stubbs
Man and Beast With Martin Clunes
9pm, ITV
In the last part of Clunes’s exploration of humans’ relationship with animals, he takes part in an annual swan-upping event on the Thames to help monitor the birds’ population, and discovers how horses can assist children with autism. In Tokyo, he meets doting dog owners. In Nepal, he sees the now-outlawed practice of snake-charming. Then it’s off to Thailand, to discover how birds are used for gambling. Ben Arnold
12 Monkeys
9pm, Syfy
Series one of Syfy’s take on the Terry Gilliam science-fiction movie concludes with our hero, time traveller James Cole, stuck in 2015. A dark fate indeed, especially as humanity’s future, defined by the release of a deadly virus, still looks grim. So all is hopeless? Possibly not. Much apparently depends on whether Cole and virologist Cassie Railly can get to Raritan Valley, location of the splinter machine. A more conventional SF tale than its precursor, but good enough to have been recommissioned. Jonathan Wright
Pulling
11pm, Gold
Back to 2006 for the first episode of Sharon Horgan and Dennis Kelly’s sitcom about three filthy wastrels from Penge. Donna (Horgan), drifting towards marriage with rancid manchild Karl (Cavan Clerkin), realises on her hen night that she’s got a lot of aimless partying still to do with her pals (Tanya Franks and Rebekah Staton). The extent to which female characters get all the funny lines by revealing their rotten souls would still feel groundbreaking today. And this opener is flab-free: one killer scene after another. Jack Seale
