Friday Night Dinner season 6 trailer drops – but grandma Nelly is tragically absent

Channel 4 has dropped a new trailer for Friday Night Dinner season 6 – but one cast member is noticeably absent from the footage.

The 20 second trailer shows hit sitcom stars Tamsin Greig, Paul Ritter, Simon Bird and Tom Rosenthal getting up to all sorts of mischief during their weekly family get together.

But the fan favourite Frances Cuka is tragically absent from the trailer following her death earlier this week.

The actress was known for playing lovable grandma Nelly Buller in Channel 4 comedy Friday Night Dinner.

She died on February 16 but her cause of death has not yet been confirmed.

Frances was a much-loved character on Friday Night Dinner, playing the mother of Tamsin Greig's character, Jackie.

Frances' career as an actress goes back around 50 years, as she was a big star on the West End stage and also had recurring roles in soap operas Coronation Street and Crossroads.

The new Friday Night Dinner trailer shows snippets of what fans can expect in the new season, but the moment was bittersweet without Frances’ presence.

Fans were delighted to see the characters back for another series (Channel 4)

In the trailer Tamsin's character Jackie tells her husband to "say something proper to your sons,” but she gets a shock when he gives them some crude advice as the boys stand awkwardly in the hallway as they listen to their dad

Martin is also seen stepping out of a dingy-looking caravan - which could mean he's upgraded his shed.

Fans were delighted to see the characters back for another series, and took to Twitter to express their excitement.

One said: “Best news of the year!" while another wrote: “That was fast! Cannot wait!"

A third added: "SHALOM."
