Conservative MP David Amess has died after being stabbed multiple times during an attack in his constituency in Essex.

The member of parliament for Southend West had been attending a meeting at Belfairs Methodist Church in Leigh-on-Sea in Essex earlier this afternoon.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the incident in the English county which happened at around 12.05pm.

Depraved Scots predator admits raping and murdering defenceless pensioner in Glasgow home

A vile predator has admitted raping and murdering much-loved Scots pensioner Esther Brown after launching an "extreme and sustained" attack her inside her own home.

Evil Jason Graham appeared at the High Court in Glasgow on Friday where he admitted repeatedly punching, kicking and stamping on the 67-year-old's head and body before striking her with pieces of wood from a chair.

The court was told how the evil 30-year-old left her lying in the blood-soaked property before going to buy tobacco with his victim’s bank card at a shop near her Woodlands home on the night of the killing.

Her battered body was discovered inside the West Princes Street property on June 1 after she had been missing for four days and the door to her was found insecure.

Murderer who killed Scots OAP in savage scissors attack admits battering fellow prisoner with snooker cue

A murderer who killed a pensioner by repeatedly stabbing her in the neck with a pair of scissors in her own home has admitted battering a fellow prisoner with a snooker cue.

In a recreational area on the wing at HMP Shotts in Lanarkshire, Robert Buczek came to blows with Gary Ironside before the pair were separated by prison officers.

Buczek, 31, was seen to have repeatedly punched Ironside on the head and struck him with the cue, following a check of CCTV .

Ironside was left with a 2cm laceration on his head as result of the assault.

Scots mum in ICU waiting for brain surgery told her daughter, 5, has cancer

A Scots mum found out her five-year-old daughter had cancer the same week she was scheduled to have brain surgery.

Samantha Harrison, 29, from Edinburgh was rushed to intensive care in April when she didn't wake up from a nap.

The mum-of-one spent two weeks in hospital with fluid in her brain and was due to have an endoscopic third ventriculostomy to drain the fluid when she was informed her daughter had cancer.

Heartbroken Samantha cancelled the operation to be by five-year-old Quinn's side after her shock diagnosis.

Man tragically dies after being hit by train in Glasgow

Emergency services were called to Hillington East train station in Glasgow on Friday morning (Google)

A man has sadly died after being hit by a train in Glasgow

Emergency services were called to the city's Hillington East station at 6.08am o Friday October 15 amid reports of a person struck by a train.

Scotrail had closed all lines between Paisley Gilmour Street and Glasgow Central stations.

Paramedics were also called to the station, but the man was pronounced dead upon their arrival.
