Video game metrics for August provide positive data points for Roblox stock, a Wall Street analyst said Thursday.
"August is typically a slow month for the gaming industry outside of sports titles, but don't tell that to Roblox, whose player counts and major experiences continue to grow like a weed," Raymond James analyst Andrew Marok said in a client note.
Roblox player counts have hit triple-digit year-over-year growth rates, he said.
Roblox is benefiting from several "megascale experiences driving millions of players consistently" on the platform, Marok said. They include "Grow a Garden," "Steal a Brainrot" and "99 Nights in the Forest."
He rates Roblox stock as outperform with a price target of 130.
On the stock market today, Roblox stock rose a fraction to close at 132.96.
Third-party data checks also were positive for Electronic Arts, Marok said. EA's combat game "Battlefield 6" is getting positive buzz, he said. The game is scheduled for release on Oct. 10.
"'Battlefield 6' is looking like one of the industry's crown jewels for the cycle, and the recent beta periods have only increased the anticipation for the title," Marok said.
Roblox Stock Ranks Fourth In Group
Meanwhile, EA's "Madden NFL 26" also has garnered positive feedback since its Aug. 14 release, he said.
For his report, Marok cited data from Sensor Tower, Twitch, Google, Steam and other sources.
Marok rates EA stock as market perform, or neutral.
EA stock ranks third out of 25 stocks in IBD's Computer Software-Gaming industry group, according to IBD Stock Checkup. It has an IBD Composite Rating of 77 out of 99. The Composite Rating scores a stock's key growth metrics against all other stocks regardless of industry group.
Roblox stock ranks fourth in the group with a Composite Rating of 75.
