The government have today issued the latest guidance relating to the relaxation of some lockdown rules, though as expected, football supporters returning to stadiums is still a way off.
It remains against the law for large gatherings or mass events to take place, so the remainder of Nottingham Forest’s Championship season will, as we know, be played behind closed doors.
There is hope, however, that supporters will be allowed to return to the City Ground for the start of next season, especially now Prime Minister Boris Johnson has relaxed the two-metre social distancing guidelines to a metre plus.
"It is against the law for large gatherings or mass events to take place except for in a limited set of circumstances to be set out in law,” the government said on Wednesday.

“This is due to the substantial transmission risk with crowd behaviour.
“Through our close work with the sectors and public health experts, we will look into ways to safely re-open these large venues to the public and will be piloting new approaches over the course of the next few months."
Meanwhile, it was announced on Tuesday’s that pubs would be allowed to reopen next Saturday, July 4, which falls on the day that Sabri Lamouchi’s Reds travel to face their arch-rivals Derby County.
That news had some fans rejoicing that they’d be able to watch the Sky Sports clash in their local, but those hopes appear to now have been dashed, with the latest advice telling establishments not to showcase live events.
