Fresh twist could derail Nottingham Forest's transfer plan amid striker link

Nottingham Forest's pursuit of Rhian Brewster has taken a fresh twist according to reports and it is not necessarily a pleasing one.

The Reds have been linked with a move for Sheffield United forward Brewster following his failed attempts at hitting top gear in Yorkshire.

Brewster has found chances hard to come by at Bramall Lane and a loan move to Forest could see him given the opportunity to reignite his career.

Brewster has only scored one League goal for United but he netted 11 in 22 appearances for Swansea under Steve Cooper, form that prompted United to make a £20 million move for the former Chelsea youngster.

The Blades recently parted company with Slavisa Jokanovic after a poor start to the season with Paul Heckingbottom replacing him in the dug-out.

It seems as though there will be more outgoings than incomings at Bramall Lane come the January transfer window.

However, Eurosport claim that Forest's efforts to sign Brewster may have hit a stumbling block with the forward reportedly being given a "lifeline" and "a fresh opportunity to find form" under the new management.

Heckingbottom was quizzed on what January may hold for his side at a press conference on Wednesday (November 24).

"I am not expecting that," he said with regard to incoming transfers.

"Maybe outs more than ins but I believe in these players.

"We're not writing this season off, it's about motivating the players.

"Sometimes it's more important to get players out than in."
