Fresh search launched for pet dog swept over waterfall at Scots beauty spot as owners appeal for help

Dozens of searchers are expected to gather in Fort William to hunt for a missing Springer Spaniel who was washed away in a river.

The adorable pooch had been enjoying a swim on Sunday, September 6, when the strong current dragged him downstream and over Steall Waterfall.

The one-year-old dog has not been seen since and his owners, Andrew Curran, 31, and partner Jordan Reynaud, 26, have been scouring the area for signs of their beloved pet.

A plea for help to search for little Angus has been issued and volunteers will meet at the Braveheart car park on Wednesday, September 9.

Appealing for help, Angus’s owner said: “This is a shout out to see if anyone in the area of Fort William is free and available to join on a more structured search for Angus.

“Phone signal is poor/none this is why a central meeting point for anyone that is interested and available to be able to remain in contact until at the carpark.

“Angus is trained to the whistle also 3-4 short sharp pips is his return command.

“Anyone who is available you are more than welcome to come join in.

“I apologise in advance for not being able to message everyone back. I am overwhelmed with the vast amount of messages of help and support.”

Gameskeeper Andrew, from Stirling, previously told the Daily Record how Angus had been out for a walk with his partner’s dad when the tragic accident occured.

He said: “We are very distressed, I have lost a big part of my life right now.

“I was working as a gamekeeper so Angus was with me every single day so I really miss him.

“We have told the police and his microchip has been reported so he would be registered as lost or stolen.

“The saddest part is we haven't even found a body or anything, I really hope he is with someone who has found him.

“If anyone knows anything please let us know.”

The couple had been due to relocate to Wales but have put their plans on hold while they continue to search for Angus.
