Fresh reports emerge that UEFA have agreed an end date for Leeds United's season

UEFA and the European Club Association have reached an agreement to end the current season in August - a two-month delay - according to the latest reports.

Spanish radio station Cadena SER ( via Football Italia ) are reporting that European Leagues will conclude before UEFA competitions in August - with Serie A, Italy’s top tier being the focus of the report.

To fulfil a conclusion to the season, sides will play behind closed doors to complete outstanding fixtures.

EFL chairman Ricky Parry wrote to all 71 clubs to confirm it would take 56 days to finish the season in England's football league.

Reports from the Daily Mail on Monday suggested that a return date of June 6 was being targetted by the EFL, which falls in line with the August timeline.

Leeds United are keen to finish the remaining nine games of their Championship season, with the club sat top of the division and on course for a return to the Premier League.

Furthermore, the decision will allow the next season to start with little impact - beginning after a short break at the start of September.

While Italy and Spain are beginning to show signs of easing their coronavirus lockdowns - the UK has shown no signs of lifting restrictions yet as plans reportedly move forward to return to football in June for the agreed August finish.
