Fresh Prince of Bel Air actor John Wesley dies aged 72

An actor who starred in Fresh Prince of Bel Air alongside Will Smith has died at the age of 72.

John Wesley, born in Louisiana, had over 100 film and TV credits to his name.

He played Dr Hoover Fresh Prince of Bel Air and has also worked with the likes of Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman and Barbara Streisand, Devon Live reports .

Wesley's family confirmed news of his death on Sunday, revealing he died from issues relating to blood cancer.

Wesley’s manager and producer Gerry Pass said in a statement: "John Wesley was a gift to the world, for his kindness and grace are immortalized in his works of theatre, TV and film

"I am heartbroken to have lost a dear friend today."

Wesley was also a renowed stage actor, starring in Lillian Hellman’s Toys in the Attic at London's Old Globe Theatre, as well as An American Clock by Arthur Miller and Wild Oats at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles.

He is survived by wife Jenny Houston; mother, Hazel Baskin; daughters, Kimiko Kamiel Houston and Kinshasha Houston and stepson, Kyler Richie.
