Fresh Nottingham Forest striker transfer link emerges as 'agent Lyle' gets to work

Nottingham Forest are among a number of Championship clubs said to be keeping tabs on Brentford youngster Marcus Forss ahead of the January window.

The Reds will look to strengthen up front next month as they aim to continue their fine run of form under Steve Cooper.

The club tried to sign a striker in the summer, and had a number of targets, but didn’t manage to get a deal over the line.

It is an area they are expected to try to address again when the window reopens, with more support needed for top scorer Lewis Grabban and Lyle Taylor.

Making progress

Boss Steve Cooper believes Nottingham Forest youngster Brennan Johnson is starting to “really come of age”.

But he is determined to make sure the 20-year-old’s feet remain firmly on the ground as he challenges him to keep improving.

Johnson has picked up from where he left off after last year’s impressive campaign on loan at Lincoln City.

He attracted plenty of attention during the summer transfer window as a result, but has gone on to quickly become a key player for the Reds, establishing himself as a first-team regular.

Transfer teaser

“Agent Lyle” has been at it again, with a transfer teaser for Nottingham Forest fans ahead of the January window.

Reds supporters have long made it clear that they would like to see loanees Djed Spence and Max Lowe put pen to paper on a permanent basis.

Fears that Spence, in particular, could depart the City Ground next month have grown following a managerial change at Middlesbrough - something.which would come as a huge blow to Steve Cooper's side.

Withering assessment

Former Nottingham Forest defender Matt Mills has been reflecting on his time at the City Ground, as well as a “nightmare” spell under Philippe Montanier.

Mills, who announced his retirement from playing in 2020, spent almost three years with the Reds after joining from Bolton Wanderers.

He was signed by Dougie Freedman in 2015, while the club was still owned by Fawaz Al Hasawi, and saw a number of managers come and go during his time Trentside.

Freedman was replaced by Montanier, who lasted little more than six months before being given the boot. Mark Warburton and then Aitor Karanka were next in the hot-seat, while Paul Williams and Gary Brazil also took temporary charge during Mills’ time at the club.
