Fresh legs are a big boost in Crystal Palace relegation fight, says Wilfried Zaha

Wilfried Zaha says Crystal Palace’s new strength in depth is helping fire the club towards Premier League safety.

Palace continued their march towards survival on Saturday as they beat Burnley 3-1 at Turf Moor thanks to an own-goal from Phil Bardsley and second-half strikes from Michy Batshuayi and Zaha.

The win moves Roy Hodgson’s side up to 13th and eight points clear of the relegation places. but the fact victory was secured by making five changes was also pleasing to Zaha.

After an injury crisis earlier this season, particularly upfront, regulars such as Andros Townsend and James McArthur were rested and Zaha believes the freshness of players is helping the squad.

“Obviously with the gaffer, we went through horrible stages where there were so many injuries and he looked at the bench and he can’t really mix it up in the way he did today,” he said.

“It is nice to see because we obviously put some fresh legs out there and it made a difference. It is hard when you have three games in a week, so today made a difference by changing it up.

“I’m always happy to score really and obviously help the team. I’m just happy to get the three points.”
