Nottingham Forest-linked Josh Murphy looks set to stay at Cardiff City, following a change of manager.
The Reds were said to be keen on the Bluebirds winger, with arch-rivals Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday also reportedly eyeing him up.
But Murphy’s situation seems to have changed now Cardiff have sacked Neil Harris and placed Mick McCarthy in charge.
The Sun claim the new boss “will hand a lifeline” to the club’s record signing, who had previously been out of favour.
And WalesOnline say: “The club’s official stance is that they would not like any more players to leave before the end of the transfer window, if they can help it.”
It had looked likely Murphy would head out on loan under Harris, given his lack of game time.
The £11m wide man, who made the move to Wales from Norwich City in the summer of 2018, had found himself down the pecking order.
He has not started a league game since November, with his only appearance in the first XI since then coming against Forest in the FA Cup third round tie at the City Ground.
Reds boss Chris Hughton brought in his first new addition on Friday, as midfielder Filip Krovinovic joined on loan, and he has also extended Anthony Knockaert’s spell at the club.
But Forest remain keen to strengthen their attacking options before the window closes next Monday.
