Fresh interest in Nottingham Forest-linked midfielder emerges as striker outlines future

Glenn Murray has offered an insight into what comes next after making the decision to hang up his boots.

The striker’s spell with Nottingham Forest marks the end of his two-decade playing career, with Murray saying he has options but will, initially at least, pursue his media work.

The 37-year-old penned a short-term contract when he joined the Reds in January from Brighton & Hove Albion.

He made 16 appearances for the club and scored two goals, capping a career which saw him find the net more than 200 times in 600-plus games in total.

Krovinovic latest

Nottingham Forest could face competition if they do look to bring back midfielder Filip Krovinovic for next season.

The 25-year-old joined the Reds on loan from Benfica in January, after spending the first half of the campaign at West Bromwich Albion.

Last week, reports in Portugal suggested Krovinovic did not have a future at his parent club and a return to the City Ground could be a possibility for 2021/22.

Right-back Gabriel was an unused substitute for the Seasiders as his season-long loan was capped with promotion to the Championship.

He made 35 appearances for Neil Critchley’s side and scored his first professional goal earlier in the campaign.

Transfer talk

With the English Football League play-off finals taking place over the Bank Holiday weekend, it marks the official end of the 2020/21 season.

And for Nottingham Forest, the focus now is very much on aiming to mount a promotion push next term.

The transfer rumour mill is already in full swing, with players being linked with moves to and from the City Ground.

The club have yet to announce their retained list, but one man who will definitely not be returning in August is Glenn Murray, after the striker announced his retirement from playing.

Matt Davies and Sarah Clapson discussed all the latest goings on, taking questions from supporters, in a live broadcast on our Reds Facebook page.

Here’s how it panned out.
