A "high risk" missing pensioner who has been missing for 48 hours may have travelled to Wales, police have said.
Jean Bain, 72, was reported missing on Friday night after leaving her Gateshead home at around 10am that morning.
Jean, of Tyne View Place in Teams, has not been seen since and police launched a search and asked the public for help to track her down.
Enquiries to locate her are ongoing but both officers and her family are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare.
Officers have now said they believe she may have travelled to the Rhyl or Colwyn Bay area of North Wales.
They have also released a CCTV image of Jean which was taken at at around 1pm on Friday.
Sergeant Laura Stabler, of Northumbria Police ’s Central CID, said: “Jean has been missing now for 48 hours and we are concerned for her welfare.
“We are working with her family who are very worried about her and an investigation is ongoing to bring her home safely.
“It is believed that Jean may have travelled to North Wales and we have been working together with local police to carry out enquiries.
“We are also now in a position to release a CCTV image of Jean that is one of the last images we have of her since she went missing.
“That was taken at about 1pm on Friday and is one of the last sightings we have of her.
“If anyone has information about her whereabouts, or can assist police in their search, then please call us on 101.”
Jean is described as white, of average build, about 5ft 1in tall, with short blonde hair and wearing glasses.
