Fresh Glasgow weather warning for ice after overnight snowfall

The Met Office have issued a further weather warning amid wintry conditions in Glasgow.

Glasgow was blanketed in snow overnight after two separate yellow weather warnings for snow and ice across Thursday and Friday.

Gritters are out in force with temperatures failing to get above the 3C mark and the Met Office has this afternoon issued a further weather warning for ice.

The warning, which covers our city, most of south west Scotland and parts of northern England comes into force at 3pm and will remain active until a minute to midnight this evening.

No further snow is expected in the coming days with the weekend set to bring a mixture of dry spells and sure amid an increase in temperatures.

Announcing the latest weather warning, the Met Office say:

"Icy surfaces are possible for a time on Friday evening and overnight, leading to potentially tricky conditions."

What to expect

  • Probably some icy patches forming on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths
  • Where these occur, an increased likelihood of accidents or injuries.
