Fresh Fitness Food meal delivery service: a review

Imagine for a second the person you would be if you had a private chef. Chiefly, better nourished, with more time.

You would undoubtedly be poorer, too — which is where Fresh Fitness Food comes in. While the service isn’t cheap (full disclosure, I tried it for free), it’s definitely thriftier than recruiting the services of your own Michelin-starred man.

The service is pitched at time-poor Londoners: every day, the team will deliver breakfast, lunch, dinner, a snack and a juice to your doorstep in a cool bag.

The maximum prep required for any of the meals is two minutes in the microwave. The company has announced that as of this month everything will be fully sustainable: biodegradable tubs and no more paper menus.

Before you sign up, you get a comprehensive phone consultation with an adviser who recommends a balanced set of meals. I was offered the active package with a vegetarian twist, based on my levels of exercise — which amounted to around 2,000 calories a day.

A typical day started with a Peach Melba yoghurt hazelnut granola for breakfast. Lunch was paprika and lemon-baked fish, and supper was sweetcorn waffles with chilli, avocado and jalapeño. It all travelled well.

Other packages include lean gains, muscle gains and paleo. I was adamant that I didn’t want mine to feel like a diet — which it didn’t — although if that’s what you’re after, you could certainly curate something along those lines.

More than anything though, it was quick, easy and felt like a real luxury.
