CHENNAI: Fresh cases in Tamil Nadu dropped to 21 on Saturday, one less than its tally on Friday. The state discharged 29 patients from the registry and reported no new deaths from the viral infection. There were 229 patients on the state’s active registry, of which 25 patients were in hospitals from across TN.
All districts reported cases in single digits on Saturday. While Chennai, which added nine new cases, topped the state’s tally, Chengalpet reported five new cases followed by two each in Coimbatore and Sivaganga. Salem added one case to its registry. Thirty-two of 38 districts reported zero new cases.
Of the 229 active cases, Chennai had 95 followed by 31 patients in Chengalpet and 16 in Coimbatore. Fourteen districts were Covid free where there were active cases with the viral infection.
Six of the 27 patients admitted to hospitals were in the intensive care unit. Three from Vellore, two from Chennai and one from Coimbatore were in the ICUs. Ten patients from Chennai were in hospitals with the viral infection. Meanwhile, 1,91,000 people took the vaccination against Covid-19 on Saturday.
