Fresh claim made about Nottingham Forest and Anthony Knockaert transfer deal

New Nottingham Forest boss Chris Hughton is said to be ultimately targeting a permanent transfer deal for Anthony Knockaert.

The Fulham midfielder is understood to be on the Reds' radar as Hughton looks to tweak the squad he inherited from Sabri Lamouchi.

And The Mirror report Hughton wants to bring Knockaert to the City Ground on loan initially, with a view to buying him from the London club.

Hughton has worked with Knockaert before, when he led Brighton and Hove Albion to the Premier League.

The player made the move to Fulham this summer, but has yet to make a top-flight appearance.

"A new manager has come in, so we are going to be linked with quite a few players," Hughton told NottinghamshireLive.

"Of course the obvious way of linking is somebody I've managed before. I think that's quite obvious.

"But all of these are always speculation.

"We'll do the best work we can, and we'll try the hardest we can on anything we do coming in - and keep it under wraps the best way possible.

"The most important thing is to determine the squad, because the players who are here are going to be most important."

Forest have made 13 signings so far this summer, and have until Friday to complete any domestic deals before the window closes.
