Fresh appeal to find missing Gateshead man one month on from disappearance

Detectives searching for a missing Gateshead man have renewed their appeal for the public’s help – one month on from his disappearance.

Ian Malone, 53, was last seen in the Low Fell area of the town at around 8am on Friday, April 7.

Extensive searches have since been carried out by Northumbria Police to locate Ian.

Officers believed that when he went missing, Ian could have been heading towards the Hadrian’s Wall and Pennine Way areas of Northumberland.

Now almost a month on, they are now appealing to members of the public in those areas to contact them if they have any ideas of his whereabouts.

Detective Inspector Ben McIntosh, of Northumbria Police, said: “We have carried out thoroughly extensive searches to find Ian and are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.

“Today, I’d once again appeal to anyone who may have information regarding his whereabouts to please get in touch, particularly those in and around the areas of Hadrian’s Wall and Pennine Way.

“Any information, no matter how small, could assist us in our search to locate Ian.”

Ian is described as a white male of medium build, around 5ft 11ins, with a bald head. He is usually clean shaven, but sometimes has a goatee beard.

When he was last seen, he was wearing black jogger bottoms, with a blue jumper and black puffer jacket. He also often wears glasses.

Ian, or anyone who has seen him, is asked to call 101 immediately quoting log NP-20230407-1045.
