Fresh appeal launched after motorcyclist dies in A70 crash

Ayrshire police have today issued a fresh appeal for information following a fatal road crash near Coylton.

The incident happened around 2.10pm on Sunday, September 5 on the A70 between Ayr and Coylton when a blue Nissan Qashqui and a red Honda CBR 1000 motorbike collided.

Emergency services attended with the 63-year-old motorcyclist pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car was not injured.

The road was closed for around nine hours to allow investigation work to be carried out.

Sergeant Scott Sutherland, of Police Scotland’s road policing unit, said: “Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of the man who has lost his life.

“Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing and we are appealing to members of the public to help assist with our investigation.

“I would ask if you were driving in the area at the time and have any information that could help our enquiries that you get in contact with officers.

“I would also appeal to any motorists who have possible dash-cam footage of the area to come forward and speak to police.”

Police can be contacted on 101 quoting incident number 1937 of September 5.
