French Open: Yuki-Saketh enter 2nd round, Bopanna-Ebden lose in opener

NEW DELHI: Indian tennis players Yuki Bhambri and Saketh Myneni had a successful start to their French Open campaign in Paris by securing a straight-set victory in the men's doubles event.

They defeated France's Arthur Rinderknech and Enzo Couacaud with a scoreline of 6-3, 6-2. The Indian duo, who previously won the Bangkok Open Challenger earlier this year, completed the match in 64 minutes.

However, it was a disappointing outcome for Indian tennis star Rohan Bopanna and his Australian partner Matthew Ebden. They were unable to progress past the first round, losing to the French pairing of Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul with a score of 5-7, 6-7 (5-7) in the men's doubles competition.

Despite saving five match points, Bopanna and Ebden were unable to turn the match in their favor.

In another men's doubles match involving Indian players, N Sriram Balaji and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan also faced defeat in their opening match. They were defeated by the team of Ilya Ivashka from Belarus and Alexei Popyrin from Australia, with a final score of 3-6, 4-6.
