World No54 Iga Swiatek - the lowest-ranked finalist at Roland Garros since the WTA computer rankings were introduced in 1975 - has won her maiden Grand Slam.
She had never previously gone before the fourth round at a Slam but downed Sofia Kenin in Saturday's final to clinch the title without dropping a set in the tournament.
