There is growing disquiet among French journalists about the criminal investigation launched by the authorities against Guillaume Dasquié, a Le Monde reporter. Last week he was detained for 48 hours by counter-espionage officers and his home was searched. He is accused of publishing state secrets in an article in April, which claimed that the French intelligence services had warned their US counterparts of a possible terrorist plot that involved the hijacking of planes and crashing them into buildings some eight months before 9/11.
