Immigration officers have arrested a 46-year-old French national hiding in Phuket after he was flagged on an Interpol red notice for attempted murder.
The arrest on Friday followed a request from the French Embassy in Bangkok asking Thai authorities to find the man, who was believed to be sheltering in Phuket.
Officers from Phuket Immigration carried out surveillance until they confirmed the man, identified only as Faisal, was inside a residence in tambon Rawai.
A team then arrested him.
During questioning, Faisal said the case came from an argument in France during which he shot and wounded another person before fleeing the country.
Records showed he had entered Thailand on Jan 23 on a visa-exemption stamp valid until March 23.
Immigration officials are preparing to deport him to France.
