French films are the most popular non-English language films in Australia. They attract a significant audience, with more than 3.5 million admissions in 2012. This is no doubt one of the reasons why the Alliance Française French film festival is one of the most successful film festivals in Australia.
Now in its 27th year, the festival will present a line-up of 48 titles at Palace cinemas across Australia this year. The film are presented in nine themed sections including I Love You, Hand in Hand, Lest We Forget, and French comedy, picks from Margaret Pomeranz and David Stratton, and more.
The highlights include Jacques Audiard’s 2015 Palme d’Or winning masterpiece Dheepan, as well as A Perfect Man, Love at First Child, Marguerite, Mon Roi, and La Belle Saison.
