Newcastle United defender Florian Lejeune has posted a promising injury update along with fellow Frenchman Allan Saint-Maximin .
There are a number of first-team players at St James' Park currently sidelined, with Steve Bruce facing several selection headaches.
Lejeune agonisingly ruptured his left anterior cruciate knee ligament in April in the 1-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace - eight months after sustaining the exact same injury to his other leg.
Meanwhile, winger Saint-Maximin was forced off early on his full Magpies debut in the victory at Tottenham due to a recurrent hamstring complaint.
The summer arrival from Ligue 1 side has only played 40 minutes so far this season, and was given a rest over the international break.
Lejeune is likely to be out of action for far longer than his French compatriot, but the centre-back posted a promising update on their respective recoveries following a training session on Thursday.
The 28-year-old posted on both his Instagram and Twitter accounts: "French connection loading. Soon back with the group."
Saint-Maximin has already established himself a firm fans' favourite following his activity on social media and his engagement with the West End Foodbank .
And fans will be hoping lightning does not strike for a third time with Lejeune, with the French defender suffering two lengthy injuries in quick succession.
The Magpies face Brighton at St James' Park on Saturday night.
