French club join race for Bristol City target also wanted by Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday

French side Bordeaux have reportedly joined the race for Connor Wickham.

The Crystal Palace striker is in high demand this month, with Bristol City one of a number of clubs looking into a move for him along with Nottingham Forest.

It had been reported earlier this week that Wickham had opted to move to Sheffield Wednesday but, as of yet, no deal has been finalised.

Yet the Robins now face more competition for his signature in the form of Ligue 1 side Bordeaux.

Twitter page Girondinfos, which claims to bring fans all the latest news about Bordeaux, says the French side have expressed an interest in Wickham.

The 26-year-old is set to leave Palace this month in order to try and revive his career following injuries.

Whilst he has had a taste of regular first-team football at Selhurst Park over the last month, Palace's signing of Everton's Cenk Tosun has meant he has dropped down the pecking order.

An extra focus could well be placed on trying to secure Wickham's signature by the trio of Championship clubs interested in him after it was decided that Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah would not be going out on loan again.

The Robins, plus Forest and Wednesday, were interested in Nketiah.

However, Wickham's wages mean that a move to the Robins is, at this stage, unlikely.
