French boss turns down 'tempting' chance to join Sabri Lamouchi at Nottingham Forest

Alain Pochat will not be joining Sabri Lamouchi at Nottingham Forest, according to reports in the French media.

Pochat is manager of FC Villefranche in France’s third division and had been offered a job to be part of Lamouchi’s new-look coaching set-up at the City Ground, but has declined a ‘tempting’ offer, say newspaper Le Progres.

The publication reports that Pochat had been sounded out earlier this week about joining the staff at Forest, and would take time to consider his options with just one year left on his contract at the Stade Armand Chouffet.

He’s now opted to remain at the club as he looks forward to a second season in the third tier of French football, despite initial worries from the Rhone-Alpes-based club that he could quit and move to England.

Lamouchi was appointed on Friday as Forest’s new head coach, coming shortly after Martin O’Neill was sacked by the City Ground club, and is understood to be bringing up-to six members of coaching staff to Nottingham with him.

The Frenchman, who himself was sacked by Rennes in December, is expected to watch the Reds’ first outing of pre-season on Saturday afternoon at non-league Alfreton Town.

His first taste of managing Forest in action will come on Tuesday evening when his side face Scottish Championship side Dundee during their trip to Spain, closely followed by a clash with Peterborough.
