Promotional material for the terror-attack thriller Bastille Day, starring Idris Elba, has been pulled by distributors StudioCanal in the wake of the Nice truck atrocity.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, StudioCanal, who released the film in France on Wednesday, decided to take down posters and adverts for the film, in which Elba plays a CIA agent aiming to thwart a terror attack in Paris on Bastille Day. The release, which was timed to coincide with the national holiday, had been marketed with the tagline: Cette Année, Le Feu d’Artifice C’est Eux (“This year, they are the fireworks”).

The Reporter suggested StudioCanal considered pulling the film entirely, but instead left it up to individual cinemas as to whether they wanted to play it.

This is the second time that the film has found events in the real world catching up with it: its original planned release in Germany and the UK earlier this year was postponed due to the November attacks in Paris.
