Fremantle's dynamic rise up the AFL ladder has earned them four members of the annual 22Under22 team, with Brownlow Medal contender Andrew Brayshaw named as captain.

A day after he was picked in the All-Australian 40-man squad, 22-year-old Brayshaw was joined in the AFL Players' Association's under-22 representative side by teammates Hayden Young, Jordan Clark and Caleb Serong after they steered the Dockers from 11th on the table last season to fifth.

That was the most players any team had in the fan-voted side, with Sydney and Collingwood netting three each.

The Swans had defenders Nick Blakey and Tom McCartin and gun midfielder Chad Warner selected while the Magpies had Rising Star favourite Nick Daicos, goalsneak Jack Ginnivan and Isaac Quaynor picked.

No player received more votes than Daicos, picked in 97 per cent of fan teams.

Western Bulldogs linchpin Aaron Naughton and star Carlton midfielder Sam Walsh were also named, both now having made the side in each of the four years they were eligible.

Geelong's minor premiership campaign helped earn Sam De Koning the full-back role, with Melbourne 2021 premiership duo Luke Jackson and Kysaiah Pickett both selected.

Izak Rankine was picked in a forward pocket, the same day he requested a trade from Gold Coast back to South Australia.

After the first of what could be a number of honours for his stellar season, captain Brayshaw paid tribute to the fans that had selected him.

"I'm humbled to be picked in the final 22Under22 team alongside so many talented players, including three of my teammates - I've seen firsthand how much work they've put in so early in their AFL careers," he said.

"I'm also really honoured to be selected as the side's captain and would like to thank the fans for their support."

Players in the side had to be 22 years old or younger for the whole season and play at least 11 games this year.
