Freeview down: Hundreds of complaints as 'high pressure weather' leaves customers without a TV

Freeview is down across parts of the England and Wales due to 'high pressure weather'.

The issue has left left thousands of customers unable to watch their favourite shows.

The TV service has said that weather conditions are to blame for the technical problems, and that the issues could continue throughout the week.

It is advising customers do avoid retuning their TV, as the signal will improve with the weather.

A spokesperson for Freeview says: "Current high pressure weather conditions across the UK can cause picture break up or loss of channels for some viewers.

"If you are affected please do not retune your TV, as reception will improve with the weather.

"At the moment, it looks as though these conditions may continue throughout the week. Viewers experiencing difficulty can still watch live and on-demand TV through players such as BBC iPlayer and ITV Hub on an internet connected Freeview Play TV or one that has players available to view.

Alternatively viewers can live stream shows via the Freeview mobile app."

Customers have been taking to Twitter to complain about the issue.

One user said: "@FreeviewAdvice no freeview tv channels have worked all day! In Newmarket Suffolk. Looks to be a problem all across east anglia. What is the issue & when will it be sorted please?"

While another commented: " Does anybody have any information as to why the Freeview reception in the south east is unavailable please??"

And a user with the handle @fatch_phil posted: "Why have I lost some Freeview channels completely and other channels are showing no signal or the signal is pixelated. I have retuned several times and still have the same problem. New aerial in 2017, first problem this evening."
