Twelve schools in West Lothian had children with confirmed cases of Covid-19 in May.
The Courier sent a Freedom of Information request to Public Health Scotland and discovered that from May 3 to May 25 there were 12 schools in the county with pupils testing positive for the coronavirus.
The schools were: Bathgate Academy, Blackridge Primary School, Cedarbank Primary School, Greenrigg Primary School, Inveralmond Community High School, James Young High School, Linlithgow Primary School, Simpson Primary School, St Columba’s Primary School, St Mary’s Primary School (Bathgate), St Ninian’s Primary School and Windyknowe Primary School.
The FOI also showed that from May 3 to May 25 the the total number of children infected from all 12 of the schools mentioned above was 20.
PHS Scotland confirmed that there were no outbreaks of ten or more pupils.
A Public Health Scotland spokesperson said: “The dataset identified 86 West Lothian schools, attended by 28,357 pupils. 277 pupils were identified as being the wrong age for Primary, and or Secondary.
“These children were excluded from analysis, as they may not be attending the school they were attached to. This data quality issue will be solved once the CHSP-School dataset is fully updated at the end of the school year. This left 28,080 school children that could be linked with test data for analysis.”
