All the freebies and discounts on offer for getting Covid jab - from pizza to Ubers

Uber, Deliveroo and Pizza Pilgrims are just some of the firms that will offer freebies or discounts to vaccinated Brits.

It comes as part of a government-led attempt to boost the uptake of vaccines in younger people.

Almost three million under-30s are yet to receive a first COVID vaccine dose.

Health Secretary Sajid Javidthanked companies for "stepping up" to help the vaccine drive and said: “Once available, please go out and take advantage of the discounts.”

Vaccines minister Nadhim Zahawi, meanwhile, said: "Please get your jabs as soon as you can and grab a bargain."

Full details of all the incentives - including when they’ll start and which age group they’ll be available to - are yet to be published.

Discussions are also said to be ongoing with companies so the exact offerings may change, and more organisations may sign up in the next few days.

Here are all the companies that have said they’ll offer freebies and discounts so far:

Uber will give discounted journeys to vaccinated Brits (PA)

Uber

Uber will offer discounted journeys for young adults who receive a vaccine.

The company will also offer cheaper meals via its food delivery service Uber Eats.

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) said Uber will start sending vaccine reminders to all users in August.

Jamie Heywood of Uber said: “We’re proud to be working with the Government on this important campaign to encourage everyone to get their jab.”

Deliveroo

Deliveroo is also in chats with the government to offer incentives for vaccinated Brits, which would include discounts on takeaway food.

The food delivery firm will also offer free meals to staff at vaccine centres to help with the roll-out.

A Deliveroo spokesperson said: "We want to do our small part to support the NHS during the pandemic, including delivering 1 million free meals to frontline NHS staff and vaccine centres.

"This is the next step in helping get people vaccinated and safely back to normal."

Bolt

Bolt, another taxi app firm, will offer "free ride credit" to vaccination centres - this means you won’t need to pay to travel to your COVID jab.

A similar scheme by Bolt included offering £250,000 in free ride credit to London vaccination facilities earlier this year.

Sam Raciti, Bolt’s regional manager for Western Europe, said: “Bolt is delighted to support this campaign. Get a Bolt, grab a jab, get living.”

Would these freebies encourage you to get the jab? Let us know in the comments.

Pizza Pilgrims is also confirmed to be in chats with the government (Pizza Pilgrims)

Pizza Pilgrims

Pizza Pilgrims hopes to convert two sites into pop-up vaccination centres, and said it’ll give out free slices of pizza to those who get a jab.

Thom Elliot, Pizza Pilgrims founder, said: “We are excited to do our bit in the push to get every adult in the UK vaccinated against COVID-19.

“By making getting your jab as easy as grabbing a pizza, hopefully we can help our teams and our customers get both their first and second doses as easily and quickly as possible. Watch this space for more details.”

Vue

Vue is reported to be in talks about offering discounts to its cinemas for those who get a vaccine, according to The Sunday Times .

However, this hasn’t been confirmed by the government and details of what kind of discount could be offered hasn't been revealed.

McDonald’s

McDonald’s is also understood to be in talks with the government to offer some sort of incentive for vaccinated Brits, again according to The Sunday Times .

The fast food chain has already launched a campaign in the US to encourage people to go out and get their vaccines.
