Free workshops available in Manchester to help children care for dogs

Free workshops to teach children how to look after dogs are coming to Manchester.

It’s understandable that kids will get excitable around animals, and our pets have the ability to bring out the childish side in us grown ups too, especially puppies.

But whether you’re planning on adding a new dog to the family, you brought home a lockdown puppy, or you’ve already got a dog, teaching children how to behave around them is essential, for both child and pet.

Doing so will help to ensure a safe and happy home for everyone.

To help parents teach their children how to keep their dogs safe, happy and comfortable, Dogs Trust in Manchester is holding some free summer workshops for children aged 7-11.

Although no actual dogs will be in attendance, these free workshops will help give children some responsibility in regards to their dogs.

The face-to-face sessions include fun, dog-related games and activities to help children understand dogs and their body language.

Could your child benefit from attending one of these events? Here’s everything you need to know.

Where and when are the workshops?

The workshops will be taking place at the Manchester branch of Dogs Trust.

Address: Dogs Trust Manchester, Parkway, Denton, Manchester, M34 3SG

Event time: 10.15 - 11.45am

Dates

  • Tuesday July 20

  • Tuesday July 27

  • Tuesday August 10

  • Tuesday August 17

  • Tuesday August 24

How do I book?

Places are limited to 20 per workshop due to Covid and are on a first come first served basis. Dogs Trust would prefer one adult per family so that as many children as possible can attend.

To book a place, email lyndsey.cooper@dogstrust.org.uk or melanie.tomkins@dogstrust.org.uk.
