Free sanitary products are being made available at Monklands buildings such as libraries and community, leisure and health centres.
They are being placed in 150 facilities across North Lanarkshire as part of the council’s commitment to addressing period poverty.
It follows the local authority’s decision to provide sanitary products in all secondary schools last year, with the new project being funded by the Scottish Government.
Communities convener Heather McVey said: “Period poverty is a real issue, with many people struggling to pay for sanitary products.

“The feedback from pupils has been very positive, with people no longer feeling anxious about missing school because they are unable to afford products.
“By making products available we’re making a practical difference to the lives of anyone who menstruates and, we hope, removing some of the stigma around the issue.”
