'Free Pulisic!' - Chelsea supporters can't believe what Frank Lampard has done against Ajax

Frank Lampard's team selection for this evening's Champions League tie against last season's semi-finalists Ajax has got Chelsea supporters talking.

As expected there is no place for Antonio Rudiger, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, N'Golo Kante and Andreas Christensen because of injury.

While Ross Barkley didn't make the trip to Holland after suffering an ankle problem during the 1-0 win over Newcastle United at the weekend.

Judging by his team selection, Lampard has opted for a 4-3-3 formation this evening with Mason Mount set to play as the most advanced midfielder.

Saturday's match winner Marcos Alonso continues at left-back as the fit again Emerson Palmieri is made to wait for his return to first-team action.

In central defence, Kurt Zouma continues his partnership with Fikayo Tomori as the Blues go in search of successive clean sheets.

Tammy Abraham will lead the line again and is supported in attack by Willian and Callum Hudson-Odoi - who is making his first start in the Champions League after coming off the bench against Lille last time out,

In total Lampard has made just the one change to the side which started against the Magpies four days ago as Barkley's place is taken by Mateo Kovacic.

Chelsea line-up: Kepa; Azpilicueta, Zouma, Tomori, Alonso; Jorginho, Kovacic; Willian, Mount, Hudson-Odoi; Abraham

Most of the reaction from Chelsea supporters on social media has centred around Christian Pulisic being left on the bench despite his impressive cameo appearance at the weekend.
