CHANDIGARH: Navjot Singh Sidhu, who resigned as Punjab Congress president on September 28, said on Tuesday that the Uttar Pradesh police should arrest Union minister of state Ajay Mishra’s son, Ashish, and release Priyanka Gandhi Vadra by Wednesday, or he will lead a protest march to Lakhimpur Kheri.
In a tweet, Sidhu, whose resignation the Congress high command has not accepted, so far, said: “When in doubt, walk the path of truth, and never compromise on moral values!! ‘Moral Authority’ thy name is @Priyanka-Gandhi.”
Responding to Sidhu’s tweet, Punjab Congress incharge Harish Rawat tweeted, “Navjot ji this is a great decision. Congratulations, this is the Congress we need. I shall too join you in your mass movement to Lakhimpur Kheri and Sitapur.”
The UP police on Tuesday booked 11 people, including Priyanka and Haryana MP Deepender Hooda, on the charges of disturbing peace after the Lakhimpur Kheri violence. On Monday, Priyanka was detained in Sitapur on their way to Lakhimpur.
