Christmas shoppers can take advantage of free parking across East Ayrshire until the end of the year, it has been announced.
In a bid to help shops that have felt the pinch from the pandemic, East Ayrshire Council revealed the development last night that will hopefully encourage more shoppers to the area.
It's understood that the move will apply to on-street parking and all major car parks in the area's towns when it officially begins on Saturday, December 5.
East Ayrshire Council leader Douglas Reid posted on Twitter: "Delighted to announce free parking in Kilmarnock town centre starting on Saturday, December 5 until December 31. Details to follow."
Councillor Elena Whitham, depute leader of the local authority, also posted on Facebook: "So happy to announce that parking in East Ayrshire will be free from this Saturday, December 5 until the end of the month.
"There are many wee independent shops & national chains who will rely on our business once we exit Level 4, please support them #ScotlandLovesLocal.
"Includes on-street parking but waiting restrictions still apply."
