Headline acts KD Lang and Kiefer Sutherland might be the big draw at SummerTyne Americana festival this year but there is plenty free music on offer too.
The hugely popular annual event at Sage Gateshead , which always sets the venue rocking - both inside and out - with American roots music, makes its return this Friday with three days of American roots-infused sounds.
US big names KD Lang headlines the opening day of the packed programme and star attraction with the Hollywood actor set to introduce local fans to his country music talents.
But those without tickets to any of the Sage gigs over the three-day run of the festival can still share in the fun as live music performances will be taking place throughout the event both inside the Sage - on the concourse - and outside where regulars tend to bag a good spot early on and keep fingers crossed for the weather.
So, here's the line-up of who will be playing on the two music stages where no tickets are required.
In association with the Jumpin’ Hot Club and Americana Music Association, the stages will be showcasing the best up-and-coming Americana talent from the North East and beyond.
The free stages session started on Friday with a noon to late evening programme featuring top Americana music from our own backyard and here's what - and when - to watch on Saturday and Sunday for anyone planning to join weekend party.
