Free lunch for everyone in the community back on in Dumbarton

A vital community resource, ensuring people can enjoy a meal and company every Wednesday, is looking forward to welcoming old and new faces.

Community Soup at St Augustine’s Church Hall in Dumbarton provides an opportunity for anyone in the area to sit down for lunch for free.

The initiative, part of Food For Thought, are keen for people to go along and are looking for sponsorship to ensure Community Soup can continue while funding for Food For Thought can be channelled into providing food packages for those most in need.

Ghislaine Kennedy from Community Soup told the Lennox Herald: “If people can give us a fiver a week it would go a long way, or maybe they could give us cakes every week .

“Whatever can be provided would be fantastic.”

No questions are asked and people are invited along for a meal and some chat between noon and 2pm on a Wednesday.

Lorraine McLeish from Food For Thought added: “It is fantastic community soup is back on. Especially with the bad weather coming in, service users have somewhere to socialise and have soup and a sandwich.

“Any kind of business that wants to support us will get our support back as we will promote your services on our Facebook page.”

Kind-hearted Allsorts Choir are currently sponsoring Community Soup.
