Free live jazz event coming to the Palm House at Sefton Park

A live jazz event is coming to the Palm House at Sefton Park this weekend.

'Jazz on the Lawn' will be taking place as another instalment of the Palm House's 125th anniversary celebrations.

The ongoing celebrations have so far included various family fun days, as well as a visit from HRH Princess Anne.

The jazz evening will see Out of the Blue Jazz Orchestra perform live, complete with vocals from Joan Fearon.

The evening also includes the premiere of the band's new song, Get Groovin', which is to be recorded soon with a Jazz North grant.

On what to expect, organisers said: "Come and join us in our stunning grounds for a wonderful evening of jazz from Count Basie to Duke Ellington, from the Beatles to Jo Zawinul."

Taking place on the grounds surrounding the Palm House, organisers have advised bringing a blanket or chair to ensure the evening can be enjoyed fully.

The Palm House Cafe will be open, serving drinks and treats, including Cheshire Farm ice cream.

The gates to the Palm House will open at 6pm, and live music will be on from 7pm until 9pm.

Jazz on the Lawn will take place Friday, August 6 and is a free event but donations are greatly appreciated.
