Free Caribbean food festival with delicious African dishes coming to Leeds

A food festival with an array of authentic African and Caribbean cuisines is coming to Leeds Kirkgate Market later this month.

The Cultural Arts Heritage Circle is hosting the event on August 28 from 10am until 4pm in the city centre.

The event by Dionne Edward, the founder of Black Voices Matter, is to support businesses which have been affected by the pandemic, especially black businesses.

Stalls on the day will include dishes from Zimbabwe, Jamaica, Brasil, Angola, Guyana and more.

Organisers are now inviting people to come, taste and experience reciples “passed down throughout generations upon generations.”

They said: “We aim to do this by restoring and showcasing the finest in culinary skills throughout the hospitality industry brought to you by emerging and established food vendors.

“There will also be light entertainment and Live Radio Broadcasting throughout the day.
